Drunken brawls are skyrocketing among today’s youth. And bucking the national average are our Bollywood celebrities.

The latest addition on the ever-increasing list is Amisha Patel’s younger brother, Ashmit. On the wee hours of Saturday, 2.15 am to be precise, Ashmit Patel beat up an unsuspecting fellow guest, Vicky at a Lower Parel nightspot. Vicky, who was caught unaware by Patel happens to be Imran Khan’s close friend and makeup man.

Vicky was immediately rushed to at least four hospitals before he finally got medical assistance in a hospital in Borivali. A diagnosis revealed a fractured nose, apart from other superficial cuts and bruises.

Ashmit Patel who has little to his name apart from a few box office duds, a colourful reality TV stint with Pakistani actress Veena Malik picked up a fight with Vicky at the club. Vicky had come to the club along with his girlfriend Pooja, who is assisting Kabir Khan in YRF’s forthcoming Salman Khan - Katrina Kaif starrer.

The fight began when Vicky went to the bar to fetch a drink. Patel tried to instigate Vicky and his friend Amin. When they refused to get provoked, Patel pushed Vicky . “Vicky does not know Ashmit, neither professionally nor at a personal level,” said a source.

When Vicky turned back and questioned Patel’s actions, instead of apologising, the actor started bashing him up. Soon, 12-15 of Patel’s friends joined the fight. On finding out that her boyfriend was being brutally beaten up Pooja raised the alarm.

The bouncers got into action by then. “But it was too late. Pooja was horrified seeing Vicky bleeding the way he was,” an eyewitness told Mumbai Mirror. Patel and his gang even threatened Vicky with dire consequences. Scared and also scarred by the events that night, Vicky and Pooja chose not to file a police complaint.

Added the witness, “Ashmit was in a very aggressive mood. He was trying to bully people in the nightclub. He just wanted violence.”

A source very close to Vicky says, “Vicky lost at least three-four litre of blood. His journey from Parel to Borivali made him extremely groggy. Pooja stayed with Vicky, until he was finally operated in a hospital in Borivali.”

When contacted, both Vicky, who is now recovering and Pooja confirmed the story. Kabir Khan, the director of Ek Tha Tiger the YRF project Pooja is working on, said, “I saw Pooja traumatised on Saturday. She told me about her boyfriend being beaten up. Such acts of violence are unpardonable and should be condemned in any civilized society.”

Imran Khan’s official spokesperson, on being informed about the incident, said, “What happened is extremely unfortunate. Imran is not in town. And he doesn’t know about this. But if he were here, he would have been very upset. Vicky is very close to him. Imran and Vicky have been working together since Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. They are also extremely close friends.”

Ashmit chose not to reply to repeated calls. His manager Pratik when contacted, said even he couldn’t reach the actor.

We can talk about how Gay is being overpaid. About how he hasn't performed at that level in his career. About how he's unlikely to ever live up to his contract.

About how Heisley could have paid less. About how Heisley is repeating mistakes of the past. About how Heisley is unlikely to pay Marc Gasol, who has been better than Gay, or OJ Mayo, who might be better than Gay. About how Heisley clearly has no idea what he's doing.

And we will discuss these points. But what's the rush? We can rehash the latest edition of "Running the Worst Sports Franchise in Besides the Detroit Lions" next season, especially if the Grizzlies miss the playoffs as they have every season Gay has played.

Is this as close as Rudy gets to a star?

However, that's not what I want to talk about now. What I want to talk about now is how Gay can earn his salary.

It's not about his scoring average, his steals, blocks, or dunks. It has nothing to do with how he contributes to the communities of Memphis, Baltimore, or Haiti.

Earning his money also has nothing to do with his shaky 3 point shot, his ball handling, or his alleged ability to pass the ball to teammates.

It has to do with toughness and intensity. Rudy Gay can earn his contract by transforming the culture of this franchise from one of losing to one of winning with toughness and intensity.

Gay needs to be the guy leveling his friend Chris Paul when Paul tries to penetrate into the Grizzlies' paint. Gay must be the guy LeBron James is whining about to refs because Gay is pushing, pulling, and generally disrupting James for 48 minutes.

Kick his ass Rudy. Kick his ass like he just told you: "You ain't worth 80 million cause you never won anything".

When an opponent blows by OJ Mayo, or when Marc Gasol fails to play help defense, Gay should first look at Mayo and Gasol in disgust, and then yell at them during a timeout. And it should make sense because Gay didn't blow an assignment or take a break on defense.

When the referees call Hasheem Thabeet for his 5th foul for looking in Kobe Bryant's general direction, Gay had better be getting a technical before Kobe gets a chance to shoot a free throw. Even if Thabeet did foul him. And he probably did.

When the Grizzlies lose, Gay better be the guy throwing chairs in the locker room and stealing Geoff Calkins' pen.

Whether he deserves it or not, Gay was just awarded the burden of carrying the Memphis Grizzlies to respectability. He's going to battle with a 9-season legacy of losing, an owner who's doing his best to run the franchise into the ground, and a team that's badly under-staffed to challenge the league's best.

He's not going to succeed by sitting back and letting chips fall where the may. He's not going to succeed because he improved his jumpshot or added 10 pounds of muscle.

The only chance Gay has of succeeding establishing himself as toughest guy on the court leaving everything he's got on the floor every night. If Gay can pull it off, it will be $80 million well spent.

I am about to start my GC processing under EB3 category. I know my chances are extremely extremely slim. I am filing for GC hoping that CIR or some other bill to clear GC backlog passes.

My question is .. How much time would it take to clear all the pending GC cases once the bill is passed ?

I am assuming 2 years. Am I correct ?

I read somewhere on the internet that a similar situation arised in the past (may be year 2000 or 2001), and when a bill was passed to clear the backlog, after few months (for bill signing and other paperwork) everyone with I-140 approvals were eligible to apply for I-485.

Is the situation that exists today any different than it was in year 2000 or 2001 ?

Hahaha. No promises, but I'll try?

I have a few reasons why I'm going back though.

Firstly, I missed my dad's birthday last month as I had to work in Singapore preparing for the Blog Awards. I actually got him a present earlier but I had no time to go back before that as well and thus only bringing him his belated birthday present this week. I hope he likes what I bought for him. :)

Next, I do miss my parents (a bit). It's been almost 3 months since I last see them, I think. So yea, it's time to drop by Ipoh to see them. However, I'm very sure the moment I see them, this reason will be nullified and I will wonder what can I do in Ipoh for the rest of 2 days. Lol.

Lastly, there's a distant relative wedding dinner to attend this weekend! Hurray!! I'm damn cheapskate and love wedding dinners. Especially the first 2 courses!! The appetizer usually rocks and sharkfin is no doubt the bomb!!! Muahahaha, attending wedding dinners of relatives are cost efficient, cause your parents pay for angpow instead of you!!! Yea! Yea! Yea!

Okay from these 3 reasons I bet you've deciphered me as someone who prioritized work from family, a not filial son and cheapskate, thick faced guy. I do admit I'm all three but I don't exactly see much wrong in it due to what I've faced in my life. So I beg for you not to judge anyone for what they do in the present as many of us may be touched or shattered to hear what they had gone through.

It's the only sane part of me. It pleads, "It's not too late to turn away from the Dark Side! There is still time to heal the hole in your soul!"

The Louisville Trip would provide a perfect test of... Can I get along well with others in a non-competitive environment? On the surface, it was a risky trip filled with potential for great disappointment. Most of the people I was meeting were strictly Facebook friends whom I had never met.

THE TRIP:
I checked into my hotel at the Museum 21 C. It is a posh downtown hotel worthy of a Queen. My room was large with a great view, king sized bed, and a nice bathroom. The turn down service every day was appreciated, because I never had to worry about running out of fresh towels. Everybody knows or should know that I take frequent showers.

On the first day, I met up with owned bud Chad. He has a wonderful sense of humor in both the Facebook world and real world. We ate at a Qdoba Mexican Grill in Bardstown and had good conversation. From there, Chad took me around to see the gorgeous Cherokee Park and Cave Hill Cemetary.

I was passed off to the friendly couple of Chris and Chris (not pictured) where they introduced me to the wonderful chrisandwich. It was quite delicious! We eventually reconnected with Chad and his Daddy Bill, where we ate at the Irish Rover and had drinks at the Q (home bar of the delightful Casey Leek and singing cartwheel legend J.Buttons).

On Friday, Casey and I dueled on the tennis courts. I was whipping his ass in each set, before he would stage amazing comebacks. We ended up splitting our sets 7-6,6-7 and called it a "tie" so neither one of us would pout on the drive back. See... I can sometimes put the greater good ahead of my own blood lust for winning!

It was on Saturday that I would meet SUPER NERD Brian again after a fateful Southern Decadence meeting with his partner Donald a few years ago. Brian has a penchant for embarrassing you with really witty illustrations on your Facebook page:

I was dragged and forced to GEEK OUT with Chad and Brian at a Star Trek Exhibit:

On Saturday night, I went to a fabulous party with Bill, Chad, and Brian where I met some very friendly Kentucky boys and a WOOFY West Virginian named Alex:

After socializing, drinking, and making mischief, we ended the night at Tryangles and The Connection where I lost track of how many people I slobbered over. Bill and Chad must think I am super slutty when drinking. LOL.

By Sunday, I was totally exhausted and flew back home to Louisiana. Thank you, Louisville for renewing my spirit and teaching me that happiness can exist outside of a tennis court. I look forward to seeing you guys soon... at IML in Chicago. :)

The Church of Scotland has voted 351-294 to allow openly gay clergy.

Scotland's largest protestant church has swept away centuries of tradition and voted to allow gay men and lesbians to become ministers, opening up the prospect of the church allowing civil partnerships for same-sex couples. The Church of Scotland imposed a temporary moratorium in 2009 on admitting gay and lesbian ministers after Scott Rennie became the first openly gay clergyman in a homosexual partnership to be officially appointed as a minister in the church. The church's general assembly, its law-making body, voted on Monday to lift that moratorium, officially officially allowing gay ministers to take on parishes for the first time since its formation 450 years ago.

A giant AIDS ribbon has been installed on San Francisco's Twin Peaks in observance of the 30th anniversary of the epidemic. The ribbon, which can been seen for many miles, will remain on the hillside until it's replaced by the giant pink triangle which appears in that space every year on gay pride weekend.
